Is a mouse needed for the game Alice: Madness Returns for PC?

I am going to be playing Alice: Madness Returns on my Laptop later today. But I do not have a mouse other than the mouse pad.

Is a mouse (besides mouse pads) needed for the game? Or are the controls on the keyboard? Can u change what controls what?
